V6 Twin Turbo 4WD Lancer

Postby -ZeroFighter- on Sat Dec 26, 2009 1:18 pm

Was just thinking of all the possible engine swaps available to be done in any chassis Lancer (preferably CC my fav. I mean you can swap in a 4G anything into there. But i was thinking of being different cause yea you can do a 4G63T or 4G93T swap nicely and maybe even 4WD it but then just buy an Evo or GSR and if you keep it FF traction would be your issue next. So i just had an idea in mind to do a 6A12TT swap in there. Now i know it can be done cause 1. There is a Lancer model that came with a 6A10, although yes i know it doesnt have all the extra things a turbo engine has so easier to fit but still can be done, and 2. I've seen this done with a 6A13TT into a CE Lancer and it stayed FF. But i want to take it a step further cause a 6A12TT in stock form produces 250hp on a good day so why not just get a 4G63 right? And besides it'd be heavier than a 4G so why do it? So i'd go a step further and convert it to 4WD. Just find the necessary donor car (one Galant VR4 E84A) and use its engine & drivetrain part for the swap. Just something i'd want to take on to be different. No balls to the wall power but just make it streetable as if it came from the factory. Then as far as looks, Evolution III everything, and just like that you have a V6 2.0L Twin Turbo Lancer Evolution VR4 lol.

Just one neat idea that i know i'm not the only one that thinks of.

Mikey (NERVIS on this forum)

http://v6lancer.com/main.htm

He converted his old cc coupe to AWD and had the 6A12TT installed in it but plans changed and sold the body to another mate of ours who decided not to throw the 6A12TT in it

Mikey currently has a CC coupe with a 6A12 N/A in it that looks mint

Ok 1st you can only use the engine from the E84A, the AWD running gear will not fit the cc lancer, you will need to get the runnin gear from an EVO1/2/3 or a GSR lancer (cc orientated)

The E84A 6A12TT engine only produces 210hp at the engine, so basically 50hp less than the 4G63T (260hp at the engine)... 1 of the main reasons people throw the 63 in :D

Cool was wondering about the running gear though.

So if i want to do this with LESS hassle, start off with a Lancer GSR or CD/CE9A Evolution? Thought of that too actually. Using a GSR and dropping in the engine. Upgrading the turbos to twin TD04 13G's from the GSR and having a little fun. Again just ideas floating about for now.
And i know its less powerful than the 4G63 but its a lil intersting to try it out. I mean why buy a 1.8L turbo GSR as opposed to a 2.0L turbo Evolution? 195-205Hp to the same 240-260Hp.

Im going to go out on a tangent based on experience.
It depends to what extent you want to copy the Evo.
If simply motorwise, then yes a GSR with engine conversion would be cheaper (just), but if you want to go all the way, these days its much cheaper to buy an original.

Run the same boost in the 6A12TT as the EVO 3 donk does from factory and you will shit all over it. lol.

E84A front cut for motor/box/xfer
EVO/GSR rear floor/diff/suspension you will need the Evo 3.9:1 rear diff to match the V6 AWD box.

The rear turbo hits the firewall when you stuff a 6A12tt into a CC engine bay.
