Yeah the bonnet wont be absorbing as much heat anymore so some of the heat radiation will be deflected elsewhere. Apart from fitting a bonnet vent, I think Ive gone a long way to protect other parts surrounding the exhaust manifold, turbo and dump pipe from heat and to help the engine run a bit cooler  .
Ive got the Dynamat Xtreme now on the underside of the bonnet, a HPC coated steampipe exhaust manifold (inside and out), HPC coated Garrett turbine housing, oil filter relocation kit to move the oil filter to a more easily accessible location that cool air runs past it when driving, fitted a larger aftermarket oil cooler and lines, protected the oil cooler lines with race spec heat shroud (like an alloy coated fire blanket close to the dump pipe), used Earls fire guard shroud on the water line of the turbo and the O2 sensor wiring near the exhaust manifold (again made of a coated fire blanket type material), using a braided oil line to the turbo, running a power steering cooler in front of the radiator, run my intercooler piping under the exhaust manifold and not over the exhaust manifold. The 10" and 12" thermo fans are also located away from the exhaust manifold, and the use of silicon radiator hose and overflow hose handles heat much better than normal rubber hoses do. Basically the only thing there I havent protected is the external wastegate (which is designed to run on exhaust manifolds so they look after themselves  ) and the alternator. I'd like to make a heat shield for the alternator at some stage too, and possibly finish off with HPC coating the dump pipe/external wastegate plumb-back although the exhaust shop has made a rather large piece there which incorporates the flex pipe welded to it, so I might not be able to get it done. I'll see how it all goes when under some high boost and temps and if I have to fit a small air vent as a last resort I'll do it :)

Nothing you guys havent seen before in 4GT private rides section  :P

On another note I sold my spare EVO1 gearbox with 3.545 rear diff ratio last week to help fund a tune in March sometime. I didnt really want to do it but funds were a bit scarce the last few months due to medical expenses :( Apart from the tune I now want to make up a spare gearbox again because even though the GSR box Im currently running was rebuilt with new bearings, steel selector forks etc, its not going to be optimum for hard launches, powering out of corners and high rpm shifts as good as a stronger Evo box with LSD and double syncros will.

Therefore I got my first new addition to the gearbox project - a rare EVO I-III Ralliart 1-way front LSD 8) I know someone who has been running one of these for years in his street/strip/track Evo and in his opinion he reckons they're a great mechanical plate-type LSD and not as harsh on a road car as other major brand aftermarket LSDs are. They apparently use the same kind of internals as the factory Evo mechanical rear LSDs do and they have a nice streetable progressive action as long as you don't run shockproof oil in them  Im looking forward to transform the corner exit traction with this thing compared to an open front diff

I know the centre diff is also a weak link in the AWD gearbox when you're going to be making over 300kw atw and launching hard, therefore it needs a bit of beefing up. I'll be upgrading the centre diff to a 4-spider unit too. Just waiting on a centre diff housing machined for a 4-spider cross shaft and two extra spider gears to arrive from NZ first. Hopefully that'll beef the centre diff to handle up to 600hp.. yay! :)

Thats awesome to hear Wicky :D You're running Diaqueen or Castrol fluid in your gearbox arent you? Whats you're overall perception of it regarding noise/streetablity/trackwork? :)

At first it was presumed to be a Cusco front LSD, but when you put them side by side you can tell the difference. Thanks to my good friend Dirk (Agent Orange) in NZ for the comparison pic below. He's been a wealth of information and guidance for me when it comes to diffs and gearboxes. The guy in my eyes is undoubtedly the smartest Mitsuibshi buff I know! 8)

Bloody magnificent Rob driven mates evo II at Wakefield with Viscous and mine definitely pulled sooooo much better out of corners no wonder why I pulled away from him and other late model evo's out of the corners ;)

Dia-Queen all the way Tried and true the best shit ever, You can trust Mitsu engineers for that one. I originally used castrol but Dia-Queen was alot better IMHO on the track.

Dirk is outstanding on his Mitsu knowledge base, leave's most in his dust literally and physically lol

that stuff would hold the heat under the bonnet,(that stuff is meant for car steros) you want to get the heat out you should buy a evo-3 bonnet to get the heat out an it will run alot cooler,

lol yeah Dynamat Xtreme has several different uses, one of them is as a heat shielding layer for under your bonnet. See the link I posted on the previous page :)

Na, Im keeping the front end of the car to maintain its original lines as a tough coupe and not an Evo. Even though Rob Zalov’s coupe is a good looking car, Im not interested in putting a sedan front end on mine. To change to a sedan front end you need to change the entire radiator support panel to a sedan, cut and weld part of a coupe and part of a sedan guards together etc. In the event of any front end damage you’re fukd.

Ive got an imported front bar and my original modified sideskirts yet to put on. They have been sitting in my garage for a couple of years lol
